It just occurred to me! Anything posted on HolaSoyYo.com is created by a person and the vast majority is by yours truly. A couple of posts or parts of some posts may be written by someone else that I know, all reproduced with permission.

Did you notice I used the word “created” and not “generated”? That was on purpose. “Created” implies creativity. I relate the other word to the generation of waste material.

So far I have not use AI for my site for a number of reasons.

  1. Writing is my friend. By writing about my own thoughts and experiences I learn more about myself. Publishing all this is first for myself. If anyone gains any insight, that is the cherry on top.
  2. I’m not in for the number of impressions, views, or likes. You may have noticed there are no advertisements anywhere on my site. As stated above I do this for me, mostly my mental, but certainly not my financial well-being. Therefor I do not need to constantly churn “content” to get more eyeballs. After all this website is a labour of love, self-love.
  3. I do not like to contribute to the training of some large language model. I rather keep my thoughts to myself and not expose them to a bot that will use them to learn from me. At least not directly.
  4. I like to see my errors after reading something I’ve published. Sometimes they’re typos, others are grammatical mistakes, and often are ideas that were not very clear.
  5. I’m still learning about AI. As a natural sceptic my first reaction is to be cautious until I learn more.

The most technology I use is a couple of dictionaries (diccionario de la lengua española). Sometimes I tap into an online translator when I have a word stuck in my head in one language and cannot think of a good alternative for the other language.

So, no artificial intelligence here for now. Actually there is little intelligence at all. 🤣

A robot vacuum bumping into things
This thing is dumber than a door knob. A door knob at least doesn’t bump into things on its own; repeatedly. If this is our future, we are doomed! Hahaha!

How are Posts Developed?

I always start with an idea that has been roaming in my head. In most cases such idea has been there for days and is influenced by some personal or external event, or a comment I hear that makes me think.

Normally I jot down some thoughts on paper; well, in a draft article on the blog. Often times it is only a rough title. Those thought have no specific order. Almost always I start in English though sometimes I start in Spanish. It really depends on my mood at the moment.

When that idea keeps coming back to my head is when I find the time to sit and write. The objective is to organize and develop those thoughts. Usually this happens late at night when there are few distractions and these tend to be really productive sessions. Often I write the bulk of my thoughts on the first sitting.

Then it turns into an iterative process. I revise what I wrote, add or remove content or I clarify or explain my thoughts. At this stage is where I often think of what image or images to add to the post. Also, after a few iterations is when I write the same article in the other language, be it in Spanish if I start in English or the other way around.

At the end I let the articles rest for a couple of days. I come back and read them one, or two, or three, or more times where I invariably find error or changes. Normally I schedule the articles to appear on the blog one or two days after I’m happy. I always publish the Spanish version one or two minutes prior to the English version so that they appear in the opposite order in the blog and email notification. I’ve got my site setup to issue a notification email to my subscribers around 12:00 hrs UTC.

Some random thoughts:
  • I don’t like the word “content”. It sounds to me like “filler” or “weight”.
  • For some reason I felt the need to write this post, though it’s really not necessary.
  • Reading about the topic I learnt that Google tends to flag AI-generated-content as low quality. Doh! For some reason I hadn’t thought about that.
  • I don’t know if I will use AI in the future. I would first need to get comfortable with it and with the idea. So far I’m not there yet.
  • Fun fact. As of today I have more draft articles than those published. Many of those drafts have subjects that I don’t find as relevant or I don’t remember what was the essence of what I wanted to share.

Errata: Actually the website does use AI for allowing access to people and preventing bots from posting spam and other nefarious purposes. Regardless all articles as of now are 100% AI free.

  1. Each author has their own signature in prose. It’s how I come to know and love another. Learning I am demi-sexual explained my sex life. Before this, I always wondered what motivated me and caused me to pass over people who were highly attractive to the eye. It takes a lot of of physical presence for me to sense another’s soul. But, awareness of one’s intellect is what flips a switch to what another soul offers.

  2. Fun post Fraches. I was looking through some of your older posts (way older, lol) in an effort to harmonize with your blog and to stop my asking questions you have already answered. I doubt I will look at them all, there are so many. You have produced many human (real intelligence) posts. I am thankful that in getting to know yourself you allow us to look in like birds on the windowsill. The simple fact of artificial intelligence is that it is a time saver. The obvious flaw is that without a lot of training as to the context of your life and the nature of your character, the ‘generated’ product is of poor quality. Even as AI advances to add a human quality to the product, it still falls short in depth and specificity of character and spirit. Keep the posts coming!
